Powell named Boys Soccer Coach

Braden Powell

GRC announces Braden Powell as the new Boys Soccer Coach.

The head coach at Model Laboratory School in Richmond since 2022, Powell was a finalist for 2022 Small School State Coach of the Year.

"I am thrilled and honored for the opportunity to become the next boys head coach at GRC," Powell said. "Since the day I became a head coach, this position was always circled as a dream job for me."

In the past two years at Model, Powell's team accumulated 29 wins and claimed the 11th Region All A championship.

Powell has also spent two years coaching club soccer for the Madison United Soccer Association.

His coaching career began in 2021 at Paris High School where he led the girls soccer team for one season.

Coach Powell has spent the past three years as a teacher at both the elementary and high school levels, and has joined the Clark County Public Schools teaching staff for 2024-25.

"It’s truly a surreal moment to be returning to lead the program I once played for." Powell said. "Thank you to all the players, coaches, and administrators who have been a part of my coaching journey and helped me get to this point. I can’t wait to get started. Go Cards!"

Coach Powell is originally from Mt. Sterling and currently resides in Lexington with his wife, Emerson.

Welcome to GRC, Coach Braden Powell!
